Today we went to the show

NEC National Running Show

So… the plan was to finally make my first proper long-form YouTube video. You know, cinematic shots, insightful thoughts, maybe even a thumbnail where I look like I know what I’m doing.

Anyway, that didn’t happen.

For various reasons, mainly me not being organised at all, I’ve once again ended up with… a TikTok. And not even one that actually shows the running show properly. It’s basically just me sitting at home, waffling about it,

There were loads of super-professional vloggers there as well. Full setups. Camera operators. Lighting people. Actual teams. And then there’s me, rocking up with my phone and a gimbal which, by the way, I still maintain is perfectly good, thank you very much, but yeah… I did feel slightly self-conscious.

As for the actual show:
It was worth going to. I went in fully expecting to come out with some shiny new trainers, but honestly? The prices weren’t anywhere near as discounted as I’d imagined. Everything also felt a bit rushed, lots to see, and not much time to properly try anything.

So I’ve decided to do the sensible thing and head to my local running shop, The Active Foot Company, for a proper gait analysis and some new kicks. Support local, get the feet looked at properly, and hopefully avoid injury

Also, the speaker I particularly wanted to see Phily, was on last thing in the afternooon and to be honest, I was all “Ran” out by then, so we missed her.

That said… it wasn’t a total loss.

I did manage to pick up three pairs of outrageously coloured running socks for a fiver, which is objectively a win. Also grabbed a ridiculous number of free energy bar samples, because apparently I can’t say no to free carbs.

And, slightly randomly, we also bought some cat food. Proper “human-grade” stuff. Twelve tins for seven quid, which is an absolute bargain… assuming the cats don’t turn their noses up at it. That part remains to be seen.

So yeah. Not the polished content I planned.
But honestly? Very on-brand.
